Deborah Hunt is a retired teacher of mathematics and a member of the Delaware Symphonic Winds French horn section. She holds a BA in mathematics from Douglass College (Rutgers University), an MA in mathematics and computer science from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey), and certificates in supervision and educational leadership from Rider University.
In addition to teaching high school and middle school for 25 years in New Jersey, she also enjoyed a varied career spanning 15 years with Prudential Insurance Company, moving from corporate trainer to business systems analyst, technical writer, and project manager.
As the daughter of a pianist and music teacher, Ms. Hunt was immersed in music from a young age. She studied piano with her mother from age 5, and started playing the French horn at age 10. She was a voice performance major at Douglass College before changing her major to mathematics. She has performed with community choruses, orchestras, symphonic wind groups, and chamber ensembles throughout most of her adult life, most recently in the greater Philadelphia area where she lived for 20 years before retiring to southern Delaware in July of 2022.
In addition to Delaware Symphonic Winds, Ms. Hunt also performs with the Southern Delaware Orchestra (SODELO) and the Rehoboth Concert Band, as well as a number of chamber ensembles including the Swan Valley Horns and the Solo Amici horn ensemble.
